AZ-103: Azure Administrator - Preparation Road Map

This is an another post discussing preparation road map for Microsoft’s another Azure’s 2-star associate level certification for cloud administrators, AZ-103: Microsoft Azure Administrator. AZ-103 is a certification examination aimed for Azure Administrators who manage cloud services that span storage, security, networking, and compute cloud capabilities. Upon successful passing of this certification examination entitles you to be called as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.

This examination covers topics like:

  • Manage Azure subscriptions and resources (15-20%)
  • Implement and manage storage (15-20%)
  • Deploy and manage virtual machines (VMs) (15-20%)
  • Configure and manage virtual networks (30-35%)
  • Manage identities (15-20%)

Who should aim for this certification?

According to Microsoft,
Candidates for this exam are Azure Administrators who manage cloud services that span storage, security, networking, and compute cloud capabilities. Candidates have a deep understanding of each service across the full IT lifecycle, and take requests for infrastructure services, applications, and environments. They make recommendations on services to use for optimal performance and scale, as well as provision, size, monitor, and adjust resources as appropriate.
Candidates for this exam should have proficiency in using PowerShell, the Command Line Interface, Azure Portal, ARM templates, operating systems, virtualization, cloud infrastructure, storage structures, and networking.

Prerequisites

It is highly recommended that before you sit or prepare for this examination, you should have passed AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals or should have knowledge of working on Azure platform before trying for this certification.
However, as of now for AZ-103 certification there is no mandatory prerequisite. You can go and directly sit for this certification without the need to pass any other certification examination before hand.
